I have great news to share! After listening to your feedback and researching further, I’m pleased to let you know that the clinic has a Sequential Intermittent Pneumatic Compression (SIPC) pump specifically for the legs.
This device assists in the removal of fluid from swollen legs and improve the blood and lymph circulation for lymphoedema, lipoedema, venous insufficiency and other fluid retention issues. It works by directing fluid movement from the foot upward to the lymph nodes in your groin, and ultimately toward organs such as heart and kidneys. Among the many benefits, it also enhances oxygenation to the skin.
There are various models available on the market, and I have chosen a 4-chamber unit over the 8-chamber version for added safety and ease of use. The leg garment chambers inflate and deflate independently over a set time—typically between 30 and 90 minutes. The machine’s settings can be adjusted to tailor the compression time and pressure to individual needs.
The pump is most effective when used in combination with compression garments and other self-management strategies, and the session duration will vary depending on the individual’s medical condition, comfort level, and treatment outcomes.
You can now book an appointment at the clinic to explore a range of management options for lymphoedema and lipoedema. This may include a discussion about compression garments—which can be measured, ordered, and fitted on-site—as well as organising manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) massage and/or a pump session. If you're specifically interested in trying the Sequential Intermittent Pneumatic Compression (SIPC) pump, sessions are currently available on Monday mornings, with additional days offered depending on availability.
This new addition to the clinic offers an effective, non-invasive support to your lymphatic health. It is a useful adjunct to your existing lymphoedema and lipoedema self-management program. If you believe it could benefit your condition, I’d be happy to discuss if it is a good fit for you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to book a SIPC session, lymphatic drainage massage or ask any questions.
Warm regards,
Jeanine
